President Mahama increases public service workers salary by 10% effective 1st January 2025.
This was agreed between all the parties involved on Thursday 20th February 2025.
AGREEMENT ON BASE PAY FOR 2025
THIS AGREEMENT is made this 20th day of February, 2025.
BETWEEN
The Government of Ghana, represented by the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), Ministry of Labour, Jobs and Employment (MLJE), and Ministry of Finance (MoF) of the one part,
AND
Organised Labour comprising workers' unions and institutions within the Public Service of Ghana of the other part.
Whereas the Parties, negotiating as the Public Services Joint Standing Negotiating Committee (PSJSNC), have concluded negotiations for the 2025 Single Spine Salary Structure Base Pay;
It is agreed as follows:
TERMS OF AGREEMENT
That the Base Pay on the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS) has been increased by 10% across board from January 2025 to December 2025.
IN WITNESS whereof the Parties herein have set their names and hands this 20th day of February, 2025.
COMMUNIQUÉ BY THE NATIONAL TRIPARTITE COMMITTEE (NTC) ON THE 2025 ΝΑΤΙΟNAL DAILY MINIMUM WAGE
In line with Section 113 (1) (a) of the Labour Act, 2003 (Act 651), the National Tripartite Committee (NTC) concluded negotiations on the determination of the 2025 National Daily Minimum Wage (NDMW) at its meeting held on Thursday, 20th February, 2025 in Accra..
In determining the 2025 NDMW, the NTC took into account the current economic challenges, cost of living, sustainability of businesses and desirability of attaining higher level of employment.
The Committee concluded as follows:
An increase in the NDMW by 10% over the 2024 NDMW which translates into a new NDMW of GHS19.97.
The effective date for the implementation of the 2025 NDMW shall be 1st March, 2025.
All establishments, institutions or organisations whose daily minimum wages are below the new rate should adjust accordingly effective 1st March, 2025.
Any establishment, Institution or organisation that flouts the 2025 NDMW shall be sanctioned in accordance with the law.
The NTC recommends that the 2025 NDMW should be tax exempt.
