Shama: Class 5 pupil allegedly commits suicide over mum’s refusal to give him food as punishment Residents of Abuesi, a community in the Shama District of the Western Region have been thrown into a state of shock after news of a 14-year-old year old boy who is alleged to have committed suicide reached them. The victim, John Yawson, a Class 5 pupil of the Alliance International School in Shama was said to have hanged himself in an uncompleted building in the neighbourhood which belongs to his father. The lifeless body of the deceased, popularly known as Egya Koyo, is reported to have been found hanging aided by a rope in the uncompleted building. Some residents in the community alleged that the deceased had offended his mother and had been denied food the previous day, a decision that forced him to commit the act. The Ghana Police have arrested a suspect named Benlord Ababio in relation to the murder of the Chief Military Officer in Millennium City, Kasoa. The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 30th, 2024, at approximately 4:20 pm. Following the interdiction of staff at the Ghana Airports Company Limited over their alleged involvement in the smuggling of 8.5kg of cocaine through the Kotoka International Airport to Belgium by a Dutch National, it has come to light that a female employee of the Narcotics Control Commission, stationed at the Kotoka International Airport, helped her to outsmart the Airport authorities.  She has subsequently been arrested and detained for her involvement in the smuggling of the cocaine, which was intercepted at Brussels Airport in Belgium.
